|RAIDAG (Reunion Amicale international de Danseurs Amateurs sur Glace) is an annual gathering of ice dancers from France, Holland, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, UK and USA. It is held annually in January at the Cresta Palace Hotel in Celerina, Switzerland. The 2016 gathering will be the 65th running of this delightful event.
The Cresta Palace Hotel provides two major ice surfaces for this event: the tennis courts which are flooded and a hockey rink.
Dance sessions begin at 9 am and conclude at 4 pm with a one hour break for lunch from 1 to 2 pm. Private lessons are available in 20 minute increments from 9 am to the beginning of the group lesson at 10:20 am. Group lessons are conducted on two levels during this hour: the lower level includes typically pre-silver and silver dances such as Fox Trot, European Waltz, Tango, Rocker and Blues and the international dance The Starlight Waltz; the higher level: includes typically pre-gold and gold dances such as Paso, Viennese, Quickstep, American Waltz. Social dance tapes are played the remaining hours ranging from simple dances to gold and international level dances. Individual lessons are available in 20 minute increments from 11:20 to 4 pm.
This year included a special class of “simple dances” such as the Dutch Waltz, Canasta Tango, Rhythm Blues and The Riverside Rumba to facilitate social dancing with the dance tapes.
Skaters of all levels are encouraged to attend.
